About Ájttega
Ájttega, ”The ancestors” in lulesami language, is a dance and joik production that invites the audience to Sápmi. It’s a performance based on the artists personal stories. Through yoik and dance you will travel to the places where the ancestors has wandered and paved the way for the society we live in today. An indigenous people who want to preserve Sápmi and its nature to future generations.
Inspiration
Ájttega is a performance that presents Sami culture in an innovative way with respect for its history, heritage and tradition. The show has its basis and inspiration from “the Sami village between the rivers ”, such as nature sounds, yoik, costume and dance.


About the Sami
A people with a heavy history who have have undergone cultural violence now want to show what it is they struggle to preserve. Welcome to a strong performance with power from mother nature herself!
