1. Environmental Responsibility

• We prioritize sustainable transportation by encouraging artists to travel by train or shared

transport when possible. To make this actually happen, we made a cooperation with a local

travel agency and don’t let the artists book their own trips without following these policies.

• Digital accessibility: We integrate livestreaming and online events to reduce the need for

excessive travel.

• Energy efficiency: Energy-efficient upgrades: We have transitioned to LED lighting

throughout the residency center and replaced an old music system with a modern, energy-

efficient one.

• Sustainable heating goals: We are planning to replace the current heating system with

an air-water heat pump system, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

• Green building certification: Our long-term goal is to achieve either LEED (Silver or

higher) or BREEAM (Very Good or higher) certification for the Jillat – Sami Dance

Center.

• We work hard with a new touring standard for the arctic, drastically reducing the carbon

footprint not only by us but also for the cooperating artists. See separate document for full

explanation.

• We minimize waste by repurposing materials in artistic projects and using sustainable

alternatives in production. We also focus on mainly using natural materials in all our

productions.

2. Cultural and Social Sustainability

• All residency spaces are judgment-free zones where artistic freedom is respected.

• We maintain zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior.

• Confidential channels for reporting concerns are available, and all complaints are taken

seriously.

3. Economic Sustainability

• We ensure fair compensation for artists, staff, and collaborators.

• We build long-term partnerships with funding bodies, regional governments, and cultural

organizations to secure stable financial support.

• Our model of combining local collaboration, residency activities, and international

networking contributes to a self-sustaining artistic ecosystem.
